THE DOUBLE BLIND-NESS

Two mis-understandings emerged as ploys of the Enemy to weaken the effect of the incarnation on the church and that which was to become the new creation through Christ expressed as us. One was the Judaising of the gospel and the other somewhat later – the notion that Jesus Christ was not God in the same sense that Father is God – The distraction of Arianism.

Both are related and sometimes found in the same religious cultures.

JUDAIZING
Judaism among Christians retains people in the letter that kills and promotes religion in the name of Jesus. It results from a failure to understand our inheritance in the cross and the total at-one-ment that has become ours as a result of the achievement of Christ. In addition it fails to take into account that the incarnation – the trinity in us is the operative life and holiness that is ours in Christ by the Spirit.
ARIANISM
The Second, Arianism is conditioned by another form of separationism. Notably the notion that Christ is separated from the Father. This is often associated but not always with the notion that Christians remain separate from God and that the task of Christianity is to undo this separation through religion and good works. Often in some circles by praise and worship and gifts of the Spirit.
LIES
Separationism is a fellow traveller of a clutch of lies that precipitated the fall – ‘you are not really one with God.’’  When Jesus appeared the insinuation was made, ‘Are you really the Son of God?’ Then in Arianism, ‘You are not really the Son of God’. Many Believers today live outside the truth that they are sons of God. Sons not because they earned it but because they are designated sons/daughters in the vicarious representation of Jesus.
We can live somewhat ineffectual lives as propagators of religion – ineffectual because what we are pushing is some amalgam of beliefs and moralism: Some version of the knowledge of good and evil ‘with Jesus’ help.’ The real Kingdom Jesus began is life by incarnation. This is life in union with God as Leanne Payne ably observes in her book, The Healing Presence. Christ in us heals us of un-life and non-being.
ONE WITH GOD
Jesus Christ is one substance with God.  You, being in Christ are now one with God.
The fact or more precisely the state of being one substance ὁμοούσιος is basic to the nature of God as trinity and foundational to our belonging in God, in Christ. The nature of God is trinitarian union with Himself – which is the kind of union we now have with God in Jesus Christ. No law and no separation here.
ENFOLDED IN GOD
Torrance observes, “The enshrining of the ὁμοούσιος in the organic structure of the Nicene Creed, [brings] into sharp relief the inherent trinitarian structure of the Gospel, [and has] had the effect of making the Nicene Creed the operative canon of truth with reference to which the Church could continue to instruct the faithful, protect the Gospel from heretical distortion and provide further doctrinal formulation as it might be needed.”(1)
If our gospel diverges from this creed it is not Christ’s gospel or the doctrine of the apostles. If we have absorbed the notion of steps to Christ we have a non-gospel which is a gospel of earning Christ, earning God and earning an acceptable self. Christ earned you. This is the Gospel of the Kingdom.
